The magic of the Emirates FA Cup returns this weekend as we begin our 2026/27 campaign in the world’s oldest cup competition with a trip to Berkshire to face Thatcham Town in the Extra Preliminary Round.
Following last weekend’s Hellenic Premier Division opener against Bradford Town, our attention now turns to knockout football, with a place in the Preliminary Round up for grabs. Victory on Saturday would see us face either Easington Sports or Mangotsfield United later this month.
The Opposition
Thatcham Town, nicknamed The Kingfishers, will be looking to make home advantage count at Waterside Park as they begin their own FA Cup journey.
A familiar name in the competition, the Berkshire side have plenty of experience in the early qualifying rounds and will be hoping to make a strong start in front of their home support. Like ourselves, they’ll be aiming to build momentum early in the new season.
Looking to Respond
After last weekend’s opening league defeat to Bradford Town, we’ll be looking to bounce back with a positive performance on Saturday afternoon.
There were encouraging signs during pre-season, and the squad will be determined to show what they’re capable of as we begin another FA Cup campaign. With progression bringing both prestige and prize money, there is plenty at stake, and we’ll be doing everything we can to book our place in the Preliminary Round.
